The LIED children's museum in Vegas

Rachelle, Connie, and I all travelled to Las Vegas on July 29th to visit the LIED children's museum. It was a very interesting experience besides Connie getting a little lost and me directing her to us over the phone. The museum wasn't too exciting. They had some neat exhibits, but it's not a draw to go back again. Here's a bunch of pics I took of Beau and some of the group.

At first, all Beau wanted to do was climb on the bleachers.

Beau and cousin, Geraldine, in the playhouse.

The climbing/sliding contraption (that's truly the only explanation for it,) was a BIG hit for Beau.

Of course he was all over anything that had wheels. Here they had wheel barrows for collecting "rocks" that were to be used in the mining exhibit.

One little monkey jumping on the bed....

Smith's Grocery had a store exhibit where kids could shop and buy and sale goods. The apron was a bit too big for Beau. Oh well.

Rachelle and Geraldine, The Daredevil, in the hurricane chamber. I took Beau in it and he totally flipped out. It went up to like 70mph wind. A very strange feeling altogether if you ask me.

The special exhibit was about refugee's. We constructed a refugee tent together. I have no idea how anyone could live like that. We are so blessed!

Beau was totally engaged by this particular toy house. He kept telling me what some of the items were, i.e. "chair, momma!" or "dat door!", etc. And he kept bouncing in glee, thus the tippy toe position.

Behind the above toy house was a step that the kids could climb on to look inside the other side of the house. It was SO ornate! Anyway, suddenly Beau recognized his reflection in the glass and went in for a smooch. I was lucky to get this pic. I thought it was so cute!

They say it's your birthday....

Happy __hmhmhm'th__ Birthday to you! My lovely and talented sister, Rachelle got another candle on her cake this year. Her hubby and I actually accomplished the impossible and threw a surprise party for her.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the cake completed before everyone arrived, but I still think it came out cute. It's a fairy cake, cause she loves fairies (thus the fairy book). How do you think the cake turned out?

Okay, fine, I'll do it..

So, my sis-in-law, Rachel, "tagged" me like a few months ago and I kinda forgot/ignored it for a while. Well, another sis-in-law, Jody, took the tag challenge the other day so now I think I'd better do it too, so, okay, fine, I'll do it.. (you better love me lots Rachel!) ;)

TAG!
Name 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random/surprising facts about yourself - then tag 3 people.

3 Joys- Matt, Beau, cookies

3 Fears- someone breaking into my house; Matt getting in an accident and getting seriously hurt or killed; my kid(s) growing up and making as bad or worse mistakes than I've made in my life

3 Goals- go back to school and accomplishing something; learn to play my guitar; get my laundry done (that's a recurring goal...)

3 Current Obsessions- Diet Coke; pandora.com; The Olympics

3 Random Facts- I only have one living parent OR grandparent (my dad)
- Not only am I my mom's daughter, I'm her 8th cousin (or something like that), which also means that Beau is not only my son, but my somethingdey'd cousin however times removed
- my favorite season is winter

Now, I choose to be last tagged. Only because I hate this game. No offense. So all you other non-tagged people (if there are any of you out there..) don't have to worry about me tagging you. Yep, that's right, love me! :o)

------------------------------------------------------------

Now, like Jody I wanted to do the memory thing she did, so....

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Happy Birthday Mom, wish u were here...

Well, today is my mother's birthday. It's a bit depressing for me because I miss her. She was so lovely and wonderful. Really, I could tell you how great she was and how I didn't realize how much I truly loved her until I lost her, but then I'd get choked up and start crying (like I've begun to do already...) So I'll leave this simple..
I love you mom! I miss you! Happy Birthday!

"Happy Birthday" from the Campbell's

This video is of The Campbell family singing 'The Birthday Song' to Beau.
He was so excited! He kept saying, "Happy Birthday to Beau." He still sometimes does it.
I just thought it was so cute how thrilled he was about this.

happy 2nd birthday beau!

Our little man is two already! I know I can't believe it.
We had a Cowboy Hoedown this year for Beau and a couple of his pals.

Here we are just before the festivities started.
Matt & I dressed up to add to the cowboy feeling of the party. Yeehaw!

We played some really fun cowboy games...
Left: Lasso practice
Right: Snake Jump

Left: Shootout at the O.K. Corral
Right: Beau decided to give his trusty horse a quick kiss.
All in all I think Beau had a fun time, although the addage of,
"it's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to," definitely came into play.
Daddy even helped him blow out the candles on his horse cake.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAU! 2 Y.O.!

Garden Update

Apparently we must have done something right for our first year in the garden. We've had an abundance of Romaine and Red leaf lettuces, radishes, zucchinis, (and we've heard the jokes about Mormon's and zucchini,) summer squashes, carrots, and finally our tomatoes are turning red. Our peas came and went, and our radishes are burning out too. It's been a wonderful harvest so far!

I took the picture below to show the size of 1 of 4 zucchini's we picked. We hadn't been out to the garden for about 3 days, and this is what we found. My hand is 6.5-7 inches long and 3 inches wide. Yep, the zucchini, it's big.

I snuck in a pic of our first reddening tomato. We've been waiting patiently and now we're reaping the rewards. Just yesterday we picked 6 tomatoes. YUMMY!

We weren't dressed up as farmers just to pick veggies from the garden. Actually, we were dressed up for Beau's birthday party (refer to above). Can you tell how happy we are to have free food in our backyard?
